A/Prof Garun Hamilton

Clinical Professor Garun Hamilton (MBBS, FRACP, PhD) is one of Australia’s leading specialists in sleep medicine, with extensive clinical experience, and a PhD in the cardiovascular consequences of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. He is Director of Sleep Research at Monash Health, where he works as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician, and also holds an appointment with Victorian Respiratory Support Service (VRSS). He is an ex Board member of the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA) where he was Chair of the Clinical committee. In this position he was instrumental in producing a range of clinical practice guidelines and position statements for sleep medicine in Australasia, and currently sits on the Clinical Guidelines Committee of the World Sleep Society. He has broad interests in sleep medicine, including obstructive sleep apnoea, non-invasive ventilation for chronic respiratory failure, disorders of excessive sleepiness and insomnia. In his clinical practice he cares for patients with a broad range of sleep disorders and he is happy to accept referrals of patients with all types of sleep problems.  

Outside of work, he is a keen cyclist and loves spending time with his wife, three children and dog.
